Supply Chain Support Solutions: Strategic Sourcing
The client: Our client is a world-leading palladium miner. Having been in business for over 30 years, the miner is one of the largest employers in the US state it mines within.
The problem: As a result of an overwhelmed supply chain, the company was unfortunately experiencing part delays, which forced reduced equipment utilization leading to increased number of vendors and increased costs across the board. The costs were well over the company’s allotted budgets, reducing profitability as well as visibility into actual vendor supply.
The solution: Having successfully worked with Victus Solutions Group on a previous capital procurement project, the client contacted us to help streamline their supply chain and provide ongoing support and oversight in several key areas. Our seasoned team of professionals met with the client, listened carefully to their concerns, and immediately sprang into action, engaging with site teams to provide confidence, assurance, and actionable recommendations for reducing costs in their sourcing activities. Today, our client continues to utilize strategic contracts as well as a governance process for monitoring new contracts being initiated as part of the business process.
The result: We optimized the client’s vendor interaction while streamlining its supply chain, reducing the number of vendor interactions from 50 vendors to five strategic vendors. Through this project, Victus was able to reduce costs for the client, resulting in a savings of over $4M.
